AOSAA December 2020 Message From The Chair

From our bubble to yours, best wishes for the holiday season!

Although Christmas may be a little different this year, we can still celebrate the spirit of the season and be thankful that 2021 is anticipated to bring some semblance of normalcy after a mixed up and seemingly incomprehensible year.

2020 started as a great year with AOSAA’s attendance at the Banff H&S Conference in February where we signed up seven new members, with several organizations enquiring about group membership options. By May, things were very different. With restrictions in place prohibiting public events and gatherings, AOSAA could not conduct the regular networking events that our membership has come to expect.

The Board was challenged with how to continue to provide value for our membership. We couldn’t just give in and give up, so we focused on what we could do.

We suspended membership fees for 2020 for all current members.

New Website Launched

A new website was officially launched in September https://aosaa.org/. The website is a culmination of many months of collaboration between the Board of Directors, with support and guidance of Fun4Business web design. The result is a professional, interactive and informative site that is updated monthly to ensure that the content is topical, timely and of value to our membership.

Your voice matters!

A short survey was developed to verify if the website content meets the needs of membership. Survey results will be used to drive continual improvement to the website and ensure topics and information posted are of interest to AOSAA members.

Our Events

Annual General Meeting Reporting

We embraced technology and introduced AOSAA’s first virtual AGM on Saturday, December 5, 2020. This format demonstrated that we can use ZOOM as a viable meeting format until such time as we are allowed to meet in person (the presentation will be posted on the website).

Planned 2021 Events

Building on the success of the first meeting, two virtual networking events are planned in 2021 in Q2 and Q4. These events will feature the Certifying Partners as well as ‘special guests’ and will allow for a question and answer period for membership seeking additional information.

AOSAA Moves Forward and Adapts

AOSAA will continue to adapt to changing circumstances, and use technology to communicate with our membership until such time as we can once again meet in person. The Board will continue to meet on a monthly basis with a strong focus on the continual growth and success of the Association. On behalf of the Board I would like to thank our membership for your continued support of AOSAA and we look forward to welcoming you all back in 2021! Wishing you all good health and joy this holiday season. Cori Thiessen Chairman of the Board
