Message from the Chair

The month of September has been the month of change management and audit fatigue. October seems to be the same so far!

Our Chairman, Jeff Chorney, has worked tirelessly with Robin Szala Design, and Eric Campbell our Treasurer to initiate our new website. Our site is up and live. If you hit www.aosaa.ca you will be redirected to our new site. We have a ton of work still to be done as we want our site to be a lighthouse and hub for safety professionals, consultants, and prospective students to be able to access current and relevant information regarding the auditing realm. Please be patient as we work to populate the website and tweak it as we go!

Our AAC Partner Todd Hall had to cancel the Certified Health and Safety Management Systems Auditor (CHSMSA) Designation offered by the AAC due to poor enrolment. When this course becomes available, we will inform our membership with new dates for training opportunities.

We continue to "walk the talk"

In other news,

We had an outstanding conference call with Jody Young and Rob Feagan on Tuesday October 8th, 2019. We continue to foster our relationship with Partners in Injury Reduction. We are living in exciting times with all the proposed changes. Specifically, we are helping with some of the components of the New Strategic Plan – Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program. We look forward to an opportunity to sit at the table to provide our expertise where applicable.

Some Final Notes from your Chair

We continue to forge ahead. Lot’s on the go! We received an expression for interest regarding the Membership Director Position and interviewed Collen Manderville on Friday October 11th. Our Executive Board took a vote and accepted Colleen’s proposal. We look forward to her joining our team. This will free up our current Vice Chair Cori Thiessen to focus on research with regards to future training and education program opportunities.

Your Chairman,
Jeffrey G. Chorney
