It’s hard to believe it’s May already!

2021 is well underway, and it seems the more things change, the more they stay the same. I think I speak for all of us when I say I look forward to returning to a semblance of normalcy; or at least to be able to enjoy the freedoms we took for granted. I miss my friends, I want to hug my Mother, I want to enjoy a family dinner inside around the dining room table…

Despite the challenges of the seemingly endless Covid 19 pandemic, the AOSAA Board has been hard at work. We continue to grow and evolve. This evolution includes learning how to promote AOSAA virtually, at least until we can once again meet in person.

Read on to learn what we have planned and for industry news and upcoming events including the Maintaining Mental Fitness webinar series.

Call for Nominations

As a result of a mid-term vacancy, the Membership and Communications Director position is open.

The Board considered replacing the Membership Director and adding Communications Director as an additional position. It was decided to combine these positions and keep the Board lean, with the potential for expansion as AOSAA grows.

This position requires a commitment of approximately 10 hours per month. The Board meets monthly, with quarterly meetings with the Associate Board. The time commitment is minimal; the rewards are significant. As a Board member, you have a chance to be part of meaningful change in promoting auditing as a profession!

All interested AOSAA members are invited to submit a brief letter to Chair.aosaa@gmail.com detailing why they are interested in joining the Board. Upon receipt, a formal application will be sent to each potential candidate.

The election will be held on June 15, 2021 and results shared with membership during the 1st Virtual Networking and Update meeting on June 17, 2021.

Mentorship Program

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

mentorship word puzzle

Are you a new auditor seeking guidance and support? Are you a seasoned auditor with knowledge and experience, and are looking to give back to the auditing community?

A survey has been developed to gauge the interest of AOSAA members in developing a Mentorship program.  AOSAA members are a diverse group; some are very experienced in the auditing field and have been active for many years, others are relatively inexperienced – conducting internal audits annually for their employer.  It is this diversity that offers an opportunity to leverage the knowledge and experience within our membership for the betterment of the auditing profession overall.

Please take a moment to complete the survey.  Results will be shared at the upcoming Virtual Networking and Update event on June 17, 2021.
